VENTOUT = Venturers + Scouts!!!

Wow! What an awesome weekend! The Scouts and Venturers from Mount Colah Mount Kuring Gai teamed up for an amazing weekend at Ventout located at Camp Kuring Gai on the Hawkesbury River.

Our buddies at Berowra helped out, and the Leaders and Venturers made sure that the Scouts had a great introduction into Venturing!

Although it was a very hot weekend (36 degrees!) there were plenty of water activities to keep us cool! Being towed behind the speed boat was the highlight for most Scouts and Vennies. The disco was a hit as well, although it was a little too loud. Those who wanted to relax in a quieter environment could chill out at the movies.

Ventout is one of the highlight of the Scouting calendar. I’m sure all of us will be doing it again same time next year!!!

MCMK Venturer T-Shirts

MCMK Venturers are commited to you looking your very best!

All Venturers in the Mount Colah Mount Kuring Gai Scout group receive these two awesome t-shirts. The light coloured t-shirt is for smart casual day wear and getting mud and crap all over it.

On the other hand, our limited edition black and terrifying, biker styled t-shirt is for evening wear. It’s perfect for getting stained and dirty. Give your mum a break! Why wash it?

Greetings from MCMK Venturers!

It’s been a MASSIVE year so far!

MCMK Venturers have had a very full program this year!! To quickly summarise, the year kicked off with; a Snowy Mountains Bushwalk, a Brooklyn Dam camp, Roventure, Dragonskin, camping at the Tanks and Wannawang, bike hikes in the Blue Mountains, Urban Caving, Amazing Race in the city, fishing, and heaps of BBQ’s!

We currently have ten Venturers, including four girls! I’m sure we’re still growing as we now have a presence on Facebook, so lots of like-minded teens now know who we are and some of the activities we participate in. Check out our facebook page to see the latest on what we’re up to: http://www.facebook.com/mcmkvents We’re always keen on new Venturers, and we welcome parents to lend the occasional hand!

Although we enjoy sharing activities with the Berowra Venturers, it will be nice to have a place called home. I’m sure we will still maintain our joint activities with Berowra, and once we do have our new hall, it would be nice to reciprocate the generosity offered by them.

Although it’s been a big year, it ain’t over yet! Here are just some of the things that we’ve done this term!
– Can collecting to help with the overs
– Our own YouTube Film Festival night
– Calabash Castle Hike (sleeping in haunted ruins!)
– City Photo Scavenge Hunt
– Ventout – where we hang out with the Scouts, swim and speedboat

We still have these activities to do before the end of the year…
– Cycling over the Harbour Bridge
– Manly Waterworks
– Deep Pass Xmas Camp: Caving, swimming, exploring
– and the big end of year party!!!

So, as you can see, we’re a very active bunch! All the best to the rest of the Group and to the families who support us! We’ll see you all soon – in the new hall!!!

Cheers, Mazi
