New Canoes!

in 2019, the Group was lucky enough to be awarded a grant for the purchase of 6 new canoes and a trailer. With the issues in 2020, it wasn’t until late 2020 that the funds we received and the canoes ordered.

Just before Christmas, the ‘Wobbegong’ canoes were delivered.

The Cubs, Scouts and Venturers were very excited, but with restrictions in place we had to wait to use them. a competition was held to name the canoes, and some great names were chosen. The new names are – Sea Slicer, Jolly Roger, A-Drift, Uncanoeable, Aqua Jet and Possum Tail.

On the 28th of February 2021, the Cubs finally got to use their new canoes on a voyage from Crosslands Reserve to Berowra Waters. The new canoes performed very well and everyone had a great day.

Active Kids Rebate

Scouts NSW is an eligible provider of the Active Kids rebate.

From 31 January 2018, parents and carers of school-aged children in Scouts can receive a $100 voucher to go towards covering membership fees for the calendar year. One voucher will be available for every child in the family annually over the next four years, ensuring families who want their children to enjoy the Scout program can send their children to Scouts.

Scouts NSW has worked closely with the NSW Office of Sport to ensure the program is implemented effectively, and is integrated as seamlessly as possible so that Scouting families can redeem their vouchers easily.

From 31 January 2018, you can claim your voucher/s by:

  • Step 1: Visit the Service NSW online portal to register for and download your child’s Active Kids voucher.

In early 2017 the Group was awarded a NSW Community Building Grant for the repair of the hall driveway.
