Bunnings Thornleigh – Fundraiser

Thank you to all our Families that braved the heat to help out at our Bunnings BBQ fundraiser on Sunday 14th February.

Despite the heat by 4pm most of the Sausages had been sold and a huge amount of icy cold drinks.

The group should raise around $850 from the event. The funds are being put towards camping equipment for the up coming Scout Easter Camp where the Scout Troop will attempt to defend their title as District Champions.

Christmas Trees – SOLD OUT

Thank you to all that supported our annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser last weekend.

Lots of volunteers ‘set up shop’ and sold trees to locals in Hunt Reserve.

By 3pm all but a small number of trees had sold and the rest were sold via Facebook and word of mouth in the next few days.

As the groups major fundraiser, the Christmas Tree sale is very important and the 2015 result is excellent.

See you on the 10th of December 2016 !

Hall Spring Clean

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers (over 40 Scout, Guide Parents and Kids across the day) for helping at the Hall Spring Clean on Sunday 25th October !

So many jobs got done, including clearing the area around the hall, graffiti removal, painting, washing walls, sorting out equipment and cleaning the halls and kitchen.

2015 Hornsby / Ku-ring-gai Relay for Life

logo-relayforlife

A small, but enthusiastic group of leader, parents and kids participated in the 2015 Relay for Life held at Rofe Park.

The Relay for Life is a 24hr walking event with attendance by local community groups and supporters. Dance acts, bands and jumping castles kept the walkers entertained.

The group raised over $250 for the event.

The very worthy cause is already in the diary for 2016 !

Mc Donalds McHappy Day Car Wash

Today, we headed to Mt Colah McDonalds to help raise funds for McDonalds McHappy Day.

Cars were washed for a donation with all funds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.

A total of $376.90 was raised.

The temptation for a water fight was too great for some, but fun was had by all !

Fund Raising in 2010

Thank you to all who have helped out in some form or capacity this year either on our fundraising BBQ’s or Lamington Drives. As a result, the money raised has gone back to the scout group to either assist families with the cost of Jamborees,  Cuborees, other activities/courses and the eventual purchase of new equipment to replace all that was lost in the fire 6 years ago.

Thank you also to those who have attended the working bees so far:  the clearing of the land ready for the build over 2 days, the electrical fit-out and the laying of the floor over 2 days. Rovers, and the families from Scouts, Venturers, Cubs and Guides have all assisted. Each time the volunteers have been under the guidance of the experts so thank you to all who turned up ready to just have a go, and thank you to the experienced tradesman  ready to assist and guide. It all helps enormously and without your assistance we would still be waiting for the electrics to be completed and we wouldn’t have a floor.

With the painting and tiling still to happen, maybe we will be able to see a few different faces. It can be a fun day bonding with others, having a joke and a laugh, eating a picnic lunch and knowing that you have done something very worthwhile for the Hornsby community and scouting future.
